Rising Chapter 3Rising Chapter 3A few minutes after the Councillor left Austin lunged forward as if he’d woken up from a nightmare. “Son of a bitch!” Immediately one of the guards pinned him down and the other aimed his weapon at Austin. “Doctor! He’s awake!” The guard at the door yelled for somebody. Instantaneously there were three doctors in the room. “Get off of him Trev, the docs’ll deal with him.” The guard who was pinning him let go. “Where am I? Who are you? How long have I been unconscious?” “You are in one of the Project Archetype hospitals, we are members of said project and you have been dead for two weeks. Well you have died numerous times but you are awake now.” The Head doctor answered his questions rapid-fire. Austin leant back. What? Project Archetype? What the hell is that? “Sorry but what the frell is Project Archetype? And why am I not in Project Freelancer medical facility like I was two days ago?” The head doctor flinched. “Wh-what did you say? Son, were you aware of your surroundings while in your coma?” “Yep until two days ago where they gave me an anaesthetic to prepare me for surgery…which was complicated…” Austin shook his head when he realised he was being distracted. “I’m sorry sir but I am not at liberty to divulge sensitive project details. Now please we need to take some body samples. Your co-operation would be preferred.” The doctors started to take various needles and prep them. “You know what else would be preferred? Some answers! Or ya know not to be jabbed with loads of needles?” Austin realised then that what he thought were restraints were just his hospital bracelets. Wow these hospital bracelets are pretty heavy… Austin lunged up, grabbing a doctor and twisting his arm until he heard a click. He grabbed another one and put them into a sleeper hold while grabbing a knife from one of the nearby trays. He swung off the bed, flinging the doctor onto the floor and, keeping him in the hold somehow fell to the floor with the doc. The doctor in his arms passed out, so Austin let him down all of an inch and looked around. Two of the doctors were on the floor while the head one was cowering behind the guards…who were aiming their SMG’s at him. Fuck I knew I forgot something … Austin stood up and held the knife steady in his hand. “Hey guys…do you know the way to the rest room?” Austin took mental aim, ready to throw the knife into one of the guard’s necks, one of the places on armour where the material was weakest.. “Throw the knife down sir. We don’t want to kill you.” Austin let out a short laugh. “Oh…kill me…oh fuck….haha…ha..ha. How about you let me go? I mean you can shoot me but I’ll get back up. But if Ishoot you you’ll stay down.” The guard who had pinned Austin earlier “Trev” wavered for a moment. The other one however clicked off the safety. “Stand down sir. Otherwise we will be for-” shlunk The guard was silenced as Austin flicked the knife and it arced into the guard’s vulnerable neck. * Before “Trev” had realised what had happened Austin had bent down, grabbed the knife out of the guard’s bleeding neck and jammed it into the slide of the SMG. A split second later “Trev” thought about firing his gun. When he did so, the gun couldn’t feed the bullets causing it to shake and for it to backfire and slam “Trev” against the wall, unconscious. While that had been happening Austin had taken the other guard’s SMG and was holding the head doc at gunpoint. “Now…why the hell am I here?” ***(I came back from talking to someone else at this point and found Shadowhawk147 had written this. Since it was too funny to delete but not quite canon I kept it for the lulz. And yes it did degenerate into a semi Bioware Rant.) Trev opened fire however it was hardcore mode and therefore ricochet was on, Trev died. Then the Elites came back shouted Shoop da Woop and glassed the fuck of out Project Archetype. I feel a Mass Effect 2 start coming on. Project Lazarus anyone? 4 trillion credits. God Bioware likes to have a starting party member die within 5 minutes of actual gameplay. Hopefully in ME3 Jack dies within the first nanosecond. And then there was cake. Also my next journal will be my 100th journal so expect something special... |
