SHEEP NEEDS ARTIST!So, last time I did some journal about this idea I would like to see come true some day, and said that next time, part 1 would happen unless something came up.Something came up. Something big. Very big. See, there was this contest over at The Escapist. A webcomic contest, more specifically. Seeing an opportunity to get a big break, I teamed up with a writer over there and we entered a little number called Robot Viking Pirate Ninjas. Sadly, we didn't win grand prize. However, our entry did win an honorable mention. One of 15 or 17 out of over 300 entries. Personally, I'd say that's a pretty nifty achievement. So Boo-YA! to that! It was a big enough achievement that myself and Zolf, the man I teamed up with who did the art for the entry, decided to keep going with the idea, reworking it for comic book form, hoping to put together something with it we could pass around to a few comic companies who take open submissions and see if any of them would have any interest in it. Everything's looking well and good for me at this point. The future looks bright, and I have a feeling that my next opportunity at a big break might be just around the corner. Then I hit a snag. See, Zolf told me that he doesn't believe he's able to continue onward with the project. Life is happening and stuff. Which I can totally understand and sympathize with. Sometimes, you got to pick your priorities and know what you need to focus on. It's sad and disappointing, but his prerogative, and I have no hard feelings towards him regarding his decision. However, this leaves me in a big of a tight spot with it. I would LOVE to still be able to turn RVNP into a comic, but I have doubts about my ability to do art of a sufficient quality. I can do art, just not good enough for what I want this comic to become. So I need someone else I can team up with to replace Zolf. So what I'm wondering is, if you're able to help me out with this, is if you or anyone you know is capable of working on an attempt at a professional comic-book project, or if you know anywhere I could go to find artist looking to get into that sort of thing. Without just looking somewhere where there's art to be found and hoping I can start randomly emailing them asking 'hey, you want to work on a project?'. Because that would be annoying for anyone who has no interest whatsoever in doing anything like that right now. Certainly, I'll be busy looking for someone else myself, but any help I can get on this would be appreciated. So in advance to anyone who can help me out on this, thank you. |
