Life Sucks

When it rains, it pours. Justin lost his job today, and my hours were cut back at work. I know the economy sucks, but it's amazing that two people with four master's degrees between us can't find full time work! I need to go cry now. =(

I'm a software trainer part-time grammar nazi and an eerie cross between your high school English teacher and the geeky kid who used to sit behind you in class programming his calculator. I love anything to do with computers and/or gadgets of just about any kind. I built a Windows 7 based HTPC which is one of my favorite hobbies. I love gaming and I divide what little time I have for it between the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. I have also discovered gaming on my iPhone and all the cheap/free games for it. Score! I also read way way too much especially since I discovered Kindle for iPhone. And I have too many degrees (and school loans) for my own good!

Regarding your HTPC issue the other day, would it be possible to power the pc you were talking about with an enclosed power brick like the ones used for printers and stuff, rather than a traditional pc power supply that has fans and all that?

I'm thinking of building an HTPC and I would like to make it as silent as possible. The set-up you described in your question looked like it would be kind of noisy.

If you have the Stylish Firefox addon, you can create a blank style and then paste this into it:

By default, it just removes the background image.

But if you delete that "background-image: none" line, and uncomment the other "background-image" line, you can replace the background image with something else.

i just read your comment on Gus recent post - awesome information. i just got my dream job as tech support for a fair size medical publishing company which affords me the opportunity to learn on the fly. i was fairly pleased with myself this past week bc i pulled apart a dead iMac g4 and brought it back to life. Not sure why i am telling you this, but hey, whats wrong with a little shared tech?

well, I went to some of the reviews online and it seems to be what I needed, and since the price is amazing, I got it. My first woot! I figure since I'll mostly be using this in my room or when I sell my plasma, I don't really need more than 2.5 hours. Also, the size is good. I'm excited to get my first netbook now!

I saw that acer on the woot sellout...do you think I can get a 6-cell battery for it? I'm not too concerned about hard drive space, i have a terabyte external drive, but I am worrried about battery life...
