Lets make a game.Hello to everybody, I don't believe I've talked to some people here for a while, so bare with me. That said, I've been busy... Oh yes I have...Dark Dementia (http://www.13cliff.co.uk) is going to be a single player and co-op PC game based on Open Arena (http://openarena.ws) which is a modified version of id software's Quake 3 engine. It's a sci-fi game set on a war between humans and an alien race known as the Keshaw in the year 3007. Storyline is on the About page of the website. The project goal is to make a good campaign game that's fun on your own and with your mates. This project is about experience. This is going to be a free game and no money will be made from it. However many people on my team including myself would like to do game development in future as a career. So if we pull this off, and it's good, we may be aiming even higher. There is a coder, and the possibility of another one, a support coder helping with physics (Won't that be fun!), 3 level designers, a modeller, 2 concept artists. So who is needed? Coders: The coding is going to be difficult, more the merry, also it makes the coding process a lot quicker. You'll need to know C coding and understand the Quake 3 source, although that can be learn easily in a few weeks. Level Designers: Not top priority, since I have 3 of them already, but if you want to help out, you'll need an editing program that works with Quake 3 maps such as QuArK, Gtk-Radiant (preferred) or Worldcraft (not recommended, doesn't support patchwork.) 3D Modellers: Somebody who can model well and has a program that exports to MDR/MD4 or MD3 format. If you can animate your models too that's awesome, same applies if you can skin them. Texture Artists: We don't have texture artists, those photoshop wizards who can make textures or manipulate photos into tileable textures. If you can do that, then PLEASE help out, we've made levels and all we have to rely on texture wise is some GPL textures from Open Arena which, although are good, don't suit the game style of a 31st century space ship. Concept Artists: People who are talented drawers and can draw people/weapons/levels/items/stuff for the rest of the team to design on. Requires nothing more than a pencil, paper and a scanner.
