Figured out why my computer kept shutting down. I purchased Windows 7 after using the beta for a while, but never installed the post-beta OS. Which is super cool, because I have all the time in the world to reinstall a new OS AGAIN. I really really dislike the Microsoft OS Release/Business model.

JA Henckels is pretty good stuff for the money. I actually have a 6" santuko by them. And don't be afraid of a mandolin, just treat it the same way you treat knives; with confidence and respect for what they can do. Also make sure you get a french style mandoline.

Oh man, sheets. I spent a TON of money on a comforter, pillows, and sheets...and it was the best decision ever. I've never slept better than I do when I'm in that bed. And if you end up sharing your bed with someone, well, it's nice to know they're comfortable too.

I don't know. There's a bunch of stuff you DON'T need, too. Like a toaster, for instance. Chances are your kitchen will be somewhat small and you don't need a bunch of crap cluttering it up. What does a toaster do? It toasts. What else toasts? Well, your oven can...and more easily, so can your stove. Just use a burner and put a slice of bread in a pan. Toasted. Done. No need for some stupid toaster. However, DO get a paper towel holder. It just looks, well, trashy if your paper towels are resting on the counter.

Oh, and get a plunger. Just get a basic one. Don't bother with the new weird accordion type ones. Yeah, you might not clog the toilet ever, but if you have some people over and someone does, first of all it's embarrassing to that person if he/she can't fix it, and second you're without a toilet for the rest of the night.

Also, multiple small garbage cans are easier to manage than one big one. ESPECIALLY if you live alone. If you live alone, it takes a while to fill up a garbage can even halfway. By the time it fills up, all the junk in the bottom is smelly and rotten and gross. Get a small can in your bathroom, under your kitchen sink, and under your desk. You'll have to take the trash out more often, but it'll train you well to not let it get out of hand. And your place will smell pretty and girly.
