Valentine's DayAnyone else feel ripped off this time of year? Women barely spend much, but expect guys to go through hell, fire and brimstone to prove their love. What- does that mean the other 364 days of the year I can objectify, mistreat, ignore and otherwise treat you as if you didn't exist? We all know it's ridiculous. We all understand it's a ploy for card companies, florists, and everyone else under the sun. Yet here we are. Year afer year, we pour out more hard earned money. We all go out to restaurants and crowd into lines. We all bitch about the slow service, the cramped space, the noise level and how you wish you hadn't gone out. By the end of the night you get home, convince yourselves it was a nice night (or belittle your man for not doing enough - however you roll) and get into bed. That's where a man MAY get paid for his hard work, or be entirely let down for it all. IN ANY CASE ;) I just think it's bullshit. Trying to save money is hard enough without birthdays, meaningless aniversaries, stupid holidays and nagging girlfriends always begging them to take them out. Am I cheap? I like to think so. Does that make me a bad person? No. I'm just poor and looking to save a penny. Instead I may end up spending $100 on flowers, a stupid stuffed plush, and shipping for the holiday, since she won't stop clinging onto me now for long enough for me to escape and buy anything at this point. I hate you romance novels, movies and television shows. You have corrupted everything. Damn women's rights. Ugh... |
