Wow, just when I was on a journal roll for all of like 4 days there, I up and disappear for like 2 weeks. Well here's whats happened in the meantime...
Car be done broken. Haven't taken it into the shop yet (waiting for my refund check to get deposited at the end of the week) but doing a self diagnosis from its symptoms, I have a broken water pump (a common problem with the MK IV Jetta's as they have a plastic impeller on a metal spool). Its unfortunate that it happened to break on me like 2 weeks ago because what was the first thing I was gonna do with my refund check? Get my water pump and timing belt changed. Yeah. Fuck my life on the timing there.
Have a girlfriend again. She's from Buda (south of Austin) and cool as hell. Not quite an internet nerdish type like myself but damn if she isn't awesome anyway. Also... has been ice skating twice in her life. For me.. thats like sacrilegious... though I've told her that number will go up a substantial amount if she stays with me for any length of time. Fortunately she loves alot of other sports (baseball, football....) so thank god for that.
Been wondering when I'm gonna get promoted to Specialist (E-4) because recently a shitton of sign-in sheets from training events and staff duty roster things have been showing me as "SPC Dixon" which... yeah definitely still a Private First Class (or PFC) and even my LES (Leave and Earning Statement... basically my paystub) has me as a PFC. There had been talk a while ago of me getting a waiver to Specialist but haven't heard much else past that. Hell... if I do get it, most likely I'll be getting like 2-3 months of back pay if my orders are dated Jan 1st (my roommate just got his waiver to get back up to PFC and hes gonna get 2 months of back pay) which means like another $180 a month so you do the math on that one...
Nah, I didn't want to pay $100 more for a phone that had more memory that I didn't need and a headphone jack. My phone came with a headphone jack adapter free.
Shitty cartoon my ass. A:TLA is one of the best animated properties to be released in the last five years and IMO is on par with the classic cartoons from the late 90s/early 00s (things like Dexter's Lab, PPG, Samurai Jack). Shitty cartoons don't win Emmys and fucking Peabody awards. A:TLA has won both. Now, if you watched it and didn't like it that's fine. But shitty it is not my friend.
As for my remark about Cameron getting the naming rights, I'm not knocking the film, merely lamenting the fact that an IP with "Avatar" in the title came up before A:TLA hit the film stage. Excuse my epically FAIL moment of fanboyism.
And on a completely unrelated note, I thought Ark of Truth was good, but rushed. And Adria was criminally underused. She had, what, five minutes total of screen time for a newly ascended baddie of all things? I think not.
